Winter Operations
Winter operations management and snow removal so switches and track stay usable.
CUNA provides winter operations management and snow removal services.
Northern Ontario winters are part of the operating environment, not a special event.
Scope
- Winter operations management
- Snow removal services
- Switch and yard clearing as required
How we work
Plan the winter
Agree what gets cleared, how often, and who calls after hours.
Clear
Crews and machines on the property after snow and freeze events.
Keep switches working
Priority on switches, crossings and the tracks the customer still has to run.
Qualifications
- CROR
Host railways expect CROR-qualified people for flagging, protection and work in the operating environment.
- A-Z licensed operators
Material moves and boom/float work on public roads require licensed operators, not just people who can run a machine on track.
- eRailSafe
Without a current eRailSafe credential, crews cannot access many CN and other host-railway sites.
Equipment used
Put a crew and tools on the rail for inspection, maintenance and emergency work.
Lift and place rail, ties, materials and components on the job.
Related services
- Track Maintenance & Repair
Daily track support, programmed replacement work, geometry and repairs that keep the railway in service.
- Emergency Response
Rapid mobilization for emergency track repairs when rail operations are disrupted.
- Equipment & Operator Services
Hi-rail vehicles, boom trucks, floats and Mark IV operators and trainers, with the crew to run them.
Questions
Is this a seasonal contract or on-call?
Either. Winter can be planned as a season of coverage or called as needed. Confirm the arrangement with CUNA.
Tell us about your track.
Request a quote, ask for an inspection, or call if the railway is already stopped.
